CHINESE JOURNALISM EDUCATION IN THE ERA OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: INNOVATIVE TRAJECTORIES AND PARADIGM SHIFT

The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is radically transforming the logic of news production and distribution, creating both unprecedented challenges and new opportunities for the journalism education system in China. Based on an analysis of AI’s systemic impact on the media industry and the resulting new requirements for professional training, this article identifies the key problems facing Chinese journalism education: the imbalance between talent demand and supply, technological obsolescence of curricula, structural deficits in the teaching staff, and the weakness of the ethical component of training. In response to these challenges, innovative reform paths are proposed along four directions: restructuring curricula, transforming pedagogical models, upgrading talent training concepts, and expanding international cooperation. The research shows that the modernization of journalism education in the AI era is not merely the introduction of technological tools, but a deep paradigm shift encompassing value systems,
knowledge structures, and competency frameworks. The key condition for success is the transition from a strategy of “taming tools” to a strategy of “restructuring thinking,” ensuring a fundamental evolution of journalism education from skills transmission to the development of integrated competencies.
