In the article, the author refers to modern theoretical data on the creation of multimedia stories. The digitalization of the media and the gradual development of technologies lead to the emergence of new formats for the transmission of information. New formats need to be considered and known in order to create texts that meet the requirements of the time. This is especially important for solving the problem of retaining the attention of the audience. As various studies show, regardless of age, people like stories presented in the form of a live story, accompanied by illustrations, and invariably evoke a lively response. Adding multimedia elements to the text makes the text memorable and easy to read, because it stimulates the reader's imaginative thinking. Multimedia stories can not only entertain the audience, but also simplify the communication of moral, social, political and other important meanings to it. This paper analyzes the scientific works of Russian scientists in recent years devoted to the digitalization of media, information visualization and new relevant journalistic formats, as well as an empirical study of Russian online media. The materials of the most popular (according to the Medialogia company) online media and agencies for September 2023, including TASS, Lenta.ru, were reviewed and Komsomolskaya Pravda. Since effective ways of engaging the audience remain in demand, the research interest of media experts concentrates on studying special projects of various online media and identifying technologies for creating multimedia stories. Media texts selected by random sampling were analyzed. Methods of comparison and description were also used. The study allowed us to determine the features of creating multimedia stories in a network environment. Conclusion: editorial offices actively use artificial intelligence (AI) to create animations and images linked to publications, thereby contributing to the growth of the quality of the multimedia product and attracting the attention of the audience. The effective techniques used in the media text to influence the audience include compliance with compositional techniques of its construction, the use of color, interactivity and others.
