The article examines the peculiarities of translating character nicknames in the children's comedy musical animated film "Hercules." It is concluded that proper names serve as a unique tool for creating character images, allowing the filmmakers to emphasize the individuality of the characters and their personal traits. The translation of these lexical units requires a significant amount of work in selecting equivalent lexical means that convey the meaning embedded in the original text. The method of frame analysis helps to expedite the process of selecting equivalents and improves the quality of translation.
